Reading Good Books
Some books give us stories of faith, triumph, struggles and victory, pain and sufferings, hope, love and forgiveness. Others reveal how we can make it, as individuals, a people, a nation. There are biographies and autobiographies. There are books on finance, romance, love, peace, relationships, faith, and prayer. There are books about gardening, fishing, plumbing, building, maths, English or another language if you prefer. There are even books which will show you why you should read books. I dare say, that there are books available about every subject matter, with which we have to do.
Reading books should be mandatory for all, children and adults. But since this may never become reality, suffice it to say that you should take it upon yourself to develop a habit of reading good, wholesome, productive and constructive books, which may give you knowledge and wisdom, enabling you to live a better life. Reading is fun.
Yes, it requires diligence and discipline to read through an entire book, but if you are determined to persist with the program, then reading will prove to be one of the greatest highlights and adventures of you life. It separates the person of great progress from the under-achiever, who wonders why nothing ever seems to work out in their favor. When you read, you can discover and discern things, which are not noticeable to the common eye.
Reading can take us on adventures and land us in the midst of the civil war, or maybe the world wars, one and two, or then again, maybe to another part of the world that we have not been to before. Reading causes us to behold wonders in the depths of the ocean, which we may never see otherwise, and illumines our minds in a most glorious fashion, bringing us to the realization that all things are possible.
When we read books, we are setting ourselves apart, as some of the most intellectually informed and truly enlightened individuals around.
Some may call us geeks, because we read. Others may call us nerds. Let them. But, let us keep on reading, more and more. We will end up being the ones with the better jobs, owning the better businesses, and raising a generation of enlightened ones in the earth.
